New Work: Gemini the Musical

August 28th, 2007 by Alex 1 Comment

At the beginning of the summer, we were approached by Charles Gilbert (yes, relation) to handle the branding and promotion of his newest work: Gemini the Musical. From the summary:

When Francis Geminiani comes home from Harvard to his working-class neighborhood, he faces his biggest challenge yet: coming out to his macho father, Fran. Based on the long-running Broadway comedy, Gemini the Musical features a cast of unforgettable characters and a score as tasty as good South Philly gravy.

After premiering at the Prince Music Theatre in Philadelphia, the show had been accepted into the New York Music Theatre Festival, an intense musical theater showcase that happens each fall. Our job: to design an identity that would help the show stand out among its peers at the festival.

We based the concept of the logo off of a central element in the show: the main character’s birthday, and the climactic scene that develops around it. After several revisions of the logo, we turned to Brian Biggs and his exceptional illustration skills to refine the image into its final form. The rest of the show’s identity incorporates the same birthday cake theme through the use of photography.

We are all looking forward to the New York premiere of this show. Tickets go on sale September first, so take a look at the dates and see if you can make it.

Fork You films Panini episode

Today the great Fork You folks brought a mobile kitchen, two George Forman grills, and a whole lot of fun to P’unk Ave’s studio. They made some of the most incredible panini I have ever tasted. In preparation for filming, Marisa carmelized onions, roasted red peppers and grilled mushrooms. Combined with some fresh and delicious ingredients, these grilled masterpieces satisfied the entire studio audience.

We enjoy sharing our space with people telling stories and communicating ideas. Fork You is a great cooking show. Take a watch of some of their previous episodes, I am sure you will agree.

Can’t wait for them to release this one.

My brother, Kerry, was hiding in the wings of the Pre-Blog Philadelphia party with his camera. He recently finished everything together into a great little piece.

Good times had by all.
