Ignite Philly (3)!

March 9th, 2009 by Geoff 13 Comments

Bringing together great people for Ignite Philly on a weekday evening has been great… imagine what a Saturday night Ignite Philly will be like! That’s right, we are beginning planning now for Ignite Philly (3). It will take place once again at Johnny Brenda’s on the evening of May 2, 2009.

We are looking for inspiring speakers that are doing cool things in Philadelphia. Are you working on a rad project, have something interesting to say or know someone that is? Please comment with links and we will do our best to follow up and get them on the stage. Keep in mind, this is not a sales event. This is about sharing ideas.

    I think local music producer and executive director of WeathervaneMusic.org Brian McTear should do one!

  2. Geoff Says:

    @Mark,

    Weathervane does sound rad. You are the second person to recommend getting Brian up on the stage. He will be hearing from me soon!

    Habari developer Owen Winkler is engaged in the Philly tech community. It would be groovy to see him introduce Habari, and why it kicks ass.

    I like the work of stitching artist Marie Elcin:

    Its a medium that you don’t see often in fine art and she has a really interesting twist on traditional craft applied to new subject matter. My wife took a class from her at Fleisher, so she’s reaching out with her work too.

    ZOMG Dude, I’m so excited… I am giddy as a school girl. Oh man. I’m going to go! AWESOME SAUCE.

    Better yet. I get to help organize the damn thing. Double Keen!

    Ought to have the folks from http://www.AnySourceMedia.com present the future of the connected TV – embedded software built right into 2010 HDTV sets that bring internet video right to your HDTV. You just plug your broadband connection into the back and voila! Can’t wait…

    Do we have a speaker to introduce Ignite Philly 3? Far and I were discussing the idea of having a old-school Philly innovator like Eugene Garfield of iSI, he was a colleague of Bucky Fuller and helped bring him to iSI and Science Center in the early 70s. He could draw an interesting parallel between past and present inspiring projects http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugene_Garfield
